Osman Yüksel Serdengeçti’s Understanding of Opposition

Abstract

Osman Yüksel Serdengeçti is a man of action and thought famous for being a journalist, a politician,a poet and having a colorful personality witnessed in recent history. Having had an active life from theend of the single party period to the end of 1970s he stood as an opponent and defended his truths allthe time and paid for it. In this study, the understanding of opposition of Serdengeçi, who acted with theslogan “ As Turk As Tian Shan, As Muslim As Mount Hira”, in political and social environment was analyzed.The main reference source for this study is the Journal “Serdengeçti” published between 1947-1962 whichmeans “risking anything for his ideal” and became his nickname later.
