Philosophical Issues Arising from Dual Nature of Light in Young's Double-Slit Experiment

Abstract

Bumakalenin amacı Young’ın çift yarık deneyinde ışığın düalist davranışından kaynaklıaçığa çıkan felsefi sorunlara bir bakış sergilemektir. Bunun için Young'ın çiftyarıklı deneyinin kısa bir özeti verilerek deneye ait matematiksel denklemlerinhâlihazırdaki mevcut felsefeye etkileri sorgulanırken diğer yandan bu deneyinyol açtığı ontolojik ve epistemolojik kaygılar tartışılmaktadır. Bu tartışmayıyapabilmek adına ise konu ile ilgili kuantum mekanikçilerin ve filozoflarıngörüşleri dikkate alınıp aralarında bir ilişki kurulmaya çalışılmıştır.

This study aims to present a perspective regarding the philosophicalissues arising from the dual nature of light in Young’s double-slit experiment.In this regard, a summary of Young’s double-slit experiment was presented, theeffect of the mathematical equations of the experiment on the existingphilosophical was questioned, and the ontological and epistemological concernsarising from this experiment were discussed. To realize this discussion, theopinions of several philosophers of quantum mechanics were considered and anattempt made to establish a relationship between them.
