Fuat Sezgin'in Tespitleri Işığında İslam Düşünce Geleneğinde Eleştiri Kültürünü Besleyen Temel Dinamikler

Abstract

In this article, in the light of Fuat Sezgin's determinations on the history of science, the basic dynamics that are the source of the formation of the criticism culture in the Islamic thought tradition are analyzed. According to Sezgin's determinations, the scientific production process of Muslims, the eighth century when translation activities started, the phase of acceptance and acceptance; It is the assimilation phase starting from the second half of the eighth century and the period when original studies in many fields began to emerge from the ninth century.We can see that a strong criticism culture prevails among Muslims in this scientific production journey, which Sezgin handles in three stages. As a matter of fact, in the period called “receiving and accepting phase”, works and practices belonging to other cultures were taken courageously and were assimilated after a short time. In this article, the basic dynamics that feed the culture of criticism in Muslims are examined under the titles of self-confidence, creativity, evolutionary thinking, scientific sensitivity, integrity of theory and practice, universality in science, work ethic and teacher-student communication.

Bu makalede Fuat Sezgin’in bilim tarihine ilişkin tespitleri ışığında İslam düşünce geleneğinde eleştiri kültürünün oluşumuna kaynaklık eden temel dinamikler analiz edilmektedir. Sezgin’in tespitlerine göre Müslümanların bilimsel üretim süreci; tercüme faaliyetlerinin başladığı sekizinci yüzyıl, alma ve kabul etme safhası; sekizinci yüzyılın ikinci yarısından itibaren özümseme safhası ve dokuzuncu yüzyıldan itibaren de birçok alanda özgün çalışmaların ortaya çıkmaya başladığı uzun bir süreçtir.Sezgin’in üç aşamalı olarak ele aldığı söz konusu bilimsel üretim yolculuğunda Müslümanlarda güçlü bir eleştiri kültürünün hâkim olduğunu görebiliyoruz. Nitekim “alma ve kabul etme safhası” olarak isimlendirilen dönemde başka kültürlere ait eserler ve uygulamalar cesaretli bir şekilde alınmış ve kısa bir süre sonra özümsenmiştir. Bu makalede Müslümanlardaki eleştiri kültürünü besleyen bu temel dinamikler, özgüven, yaratıcılık, tekâmül düşüncesi, ilmi hassasiyet, teori ve uygulama bütünlüğü, bilimde evrensellik, çalışma ahlakı ve öğretmen-öğrenci iletişimi başlıkları altında incelenmektedir.
