"Talk Like Ted” book in the path of supporting teacher professional development

dc.description.abstractIn this study, in order to support the professional development of pre-service teachers, their experiences on the book "Talk Like TED" were examined and the book was analyzed with concept maps. Parallel mixed method research was used in the study. The study group consisted of 84 second-year students from different departments of the faculty of education by convenience sampling. The data were collected with a questionnaire form prepared by the researcher that combines both quantitative and qualitative data. In addition, the participants were asked to create mind maps to analyze the content and basic principles of the book. In the study, qualitative and quantitative data were collected at the same time, but analyzed separately, and the results of the analysis of both data sets were combined and interpreted. In order to analyze the quantitative data, descriptive statistics such as arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage, and frequency were made through the SPSS 18.0 package program. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis in MAXQDA program. As a result of the research, it was determined that Talk Like TED book were analyzed and a basic structure about the main topics of the book was reached, pre-service teachers developed positive opinions about the book, the book created awareness in developing professional teaching skills, especially in developing effective presentation, communication and expression skills. In line with these results, suggestions for the integration of the book into teacher training programs were presented.en_US
dc.description.abstractBu arastirmada ögretmen adaylarinin mesleki gelisimini desteklemek amaciyla “TED Gibi Konus” kitabi üzerine deneyimleri incelenmis ve kavram haritalariyla kitabin analizi yapilmistir. Çalismada paralel karma yöntem arastirmasi kullanilmistir. Çalisma grubu, kolay ulasilabilir durum örneklemesiyle egitim fakültesinin farkli bölümlerinde ögrenim gören 84 tane 2. sinif ögrencisi olusturmaktadir. Veriler arastirmaci tarafindan hazirlanan hem nicel hem nitel verilerin bir arada oldugu bir degerlendirme formu ile toplanmistir. Ayrica kitabinin içerigi ve temel ilkelerine dair çözümlemeler için katilimcilarin zihin haritalari olusturmalari saglanmistir. Çalismada, nitel ve nicel veriler ayni anda toplanmis, ancak ayri ayri analiz edilmis ve her iki veri setinin analiz sonuçlari birlestirilerek yorumlanmistir. Nicel verilerin çözümlenmesi amaciyla SPSS 18,0 paket programi araciligiyla aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, yüzde, frekans gibi betimsel istatistikler yapilmistir. Nitel veriler ise MAXQDA programinda içerik analizi ile çözümlenmistir. Arastirma sonucunda; TED Gibi Konus kitabi çözümlenerek kitabin ana hatlariyla ilgili temel bir yapiya ulasildigi, kitapla ilgili ögretmen adaylarinin olumlu görüsler gelistirdigi, kitabin ögretmenlik mesleki becerilerini gelistirmede farkindalik yarattigi özellikle de etkili sunum, iletisim ve anlatim becerilerini gelistirmede olumlu yönde farkindalik gelistirdigi belirlenmistir. Sonuçlar dogrultusunda ögretmen yetistirme programlarina kitabin entegrasyonu ile ilgili öneriler sunulmustur.en_US
