Migration, City, Identity: "Yusuf ile Kenan"

Abstract

Migration constitutes one of the most important agendas of Turkey. Both internal and external migrations play an important role in social change. Many problems may arise in terms of both the emigrant and the place of emigration. Especially with the increasing immigration in the 1970s, Turkey has experienced significant transformations in this regard. Concepts such as identity, belonging, inequality and alienation attracted more attention. In addition, problems such as slums and infrastructure emerged as serious problems. As in many other fields, these issues are also discussed in cinema. The phenomenon of migration was brought to the stage within the framework of some ideological movements. Migration to big cities for a number of reasons has also turned into a serious infrastructure and identity problem in Turkey. The social realist approach to the issue of migration is generally focused on. Social realists produced a film based on basic reference concepts such as migration, the city, alienation, and inequality. In this study, Yusuf ile Kenan movie will be examined. The film was presented to the audience by Ömer Kavur from a social realist point of view. In the study, the place, time, people in the film will be discussed within the framework of a number of encounters and conflicts. Turkey and migration will be read through the cinema.

Göç, Türkiye’nin en önemli gündemlerinden birini olusturmaktadir. Hem iç hem de dis göçler toplumsal degisimde önemli bir rol oynamaktadir. Hem göç eden hem de göç edilen yer açisindan birçok problem ortaya çikabilmektedir. Özellikle 1970’li yillarda artan göçlerle beraber Türkiye, bu konuda önemli dönüsümler yasamistir. Kimlik, aidiyet, esitsizlik, yabancilasma gibi kavramlar daha fazla dikkat çekmistir. Ayrica gecekondu, alt yapi gibi problemler de ciddi sorunlar olarak bas göstermistir. Birçok alanda oldugu gibi sinemada da bu konular ele alinmistir. Bir takim ideolojik akimlar çerçevesinde göç olgusu sahneye tasinmistir. Bir takim nedenlerle büyük sehirlere olan göçler Türkiye’nin ciddi bir altyapi ve kimlik sorununa da dönüsmüstür. Göç meselesine genellikle toplumsal gerçekçi yaklasim egilmistir. Toplumsal gerçekçiler göç, kent, yabancilasma, esitsizlik gibi temek referans kavramlar üzerinden bir film üretimi gerçeklestirmislerdir. Bu çalismada Yusuf Ile Kenan filmi incelenecektir. Film, Ömer Kavur tarafindan toplumsal gerçekçi bir bakis açisiyla seyirciye sunulmustur. Çalismada filmdeki mekân, zaman, sahislar bir takim karsilasma ve çatismalar çerçevesinde ele alinacak. Sinema üzerinden Türkiye ve göç okumasi yapilacaktir.
