Jacques de Vitry'nin "History of Jerusalem" eserinin Türkçeye çevrilmesi ve değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Bu tezin amacı, XII. ve XIII. asırda yaşayıp Kudüs Tarihi'ni kaleme alan Hristiyan bir din adamının eserini dilimize çevirmek ve tetkik etmektir. Nitekim Kudüs, özellikle dinî açıdan çok önemli bir yere sahip olmasından dolayı kaynaklarda da sıkça bahsi geçmiştir. Ele aldığımız bu eser de dönemin Kudüs coğrafyası, insanların sosyal yaşamı ve komşu kentleri hakkında önemli bilgiler verir. Ayrıca dönemin Kudüs şehrine hâkim olan Kudüs Latin Krallığı hakkında da bilgiler ihtivâ eder. Müellifimiz, Nureddin Zengî ve özellikle Salâhaddîn Eyyûbî ile ilgili de bilgiler verir. Diğer yandan Tapınakçıların kuruluşundan, piskoposların görevlerinden, kötü ruhun insan üzerindeki etkilerinden ve Kutsal Topraklarda meydana gelen doğa olaylarından önemle bahseder. Dahası Haçlı Seferleri'nin de genel bir tarihini vermektedir. Müellifimizin dikkat temel husus ise bir yeri ve bölgeyi anlatırken iklimi ve coğrafyası üzerinde durarak detaylı bilgi vermesidir ve eserini tamamen Kutsal Topraklara adamıştır. Eser, çağdaş Latin, İslâm, Süryani ve Ermeni kaynaklarıyla mukayese edilerek Türkçeye çevrilmiş ve değerlendirilmiştir.

The aim of this thesis is to translate and analyze of the work of a Christian clergyman who lived in the 12th and 13th centuries and wrote the History of Jerusalem. As a matter of fact, Jerusalem is frequently mentioned in the sources because it has a very important place in terms of religion. This work that we are dealing with is too gives important information about the Jerusalem geography of the period, the social life of the people and the neighboring cities. It also contains important information about the Jerusalem Crusades Kingdom, which the city of Jerusalem at the time. Our author also gives information about Nureddin Zengi and especially Saladdin Eyyubi. On the other hand, he mention the establishment of the Templars, the duties of the bishops, the effects of the evil spirit on people and the natural events that occur in the Holy Land. Moreover, it gives a general history of the Crusades. The main point of attention of our author is to give detailed information by emphasizing the climate and geography while describing a place and region. The work is entirely dedicated to the Holy Land. The work has been translated into Turkish and commented by comparing it with contemporary Latin, Islamic, Syriac and Armenian sources.
