Sosyal bilgiler dersinin deprem eğitimi bağlamındaki yeterliliği hakkında öğretmen görüşleri

Abstract

Amaç: Sosyal bilgiler dersinin deprem eğitimi bağlamındaki yeterliliği hakkında öğretmen görüşlerini incelemektir. Bu çalışmada "Sosyal bilgiler dersi deprem eğitimini vermekte yeterli mi? Yeterli değilse yeterliliğini artırmak için neler yapılabilir?" sorularına cevap aranmıştır. Yöntem: Bu çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemi ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 2023-2024 Eğitim-Öğretim Yılında Adıyaman ilindeki devlet okullarının ortaokul kademesinde çalışan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinden oluşmuştur. Önceden belirlenen gün ve saatte araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Sosyal bilgiler dersinde verilen deprem eğitiminin yeterliliği hakkındaki görüşmelerde ses kayıtları alınmış, sonra alınan ses kayıtları metne dökülerek tema ve kategorilere ayrılmıştır. Kategorilerin kaç defa kullanıldığı bulunarak toplam frekanslar ortaya konmuştur. Kategorilerin frekansları ve yüzdeleri bulunmuştur. Tema ve kategorilere ayrılan görüşme metinleri excel uygulaması aracılığıyla tablolar oluşturulup yüzdelik dilimlere ayrılmıştır. Hazırlanan tablolar bulgular kısmında kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların tamamı sosyal bilgiler dersinde verilen deprem eğitiminin yetersiz olduğunu belirtmiştir. Katılımcılar, bu yetersizliğin giderilmesine yönelik eğitimden sorumlu bütün kurum ve kuruluşların gerekli düzenlemeleri yapmaya yönelik çalışmalar yapmaları gerektiği ifadelerini kullanmışlardır. Sonuç: Sosyal bilgiler dersinde verilen deprem eğitiminin müfredatta yeteri kadar yer almadığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu yüzden deprem eğitiminde verilen deprem tatbikatları eğitimi depreme hazırlıklı olma, devlet ve toplum olarak sorumlulukları yerine getirme, toplumu afetlere özellikle deprem afetine karşı bilgilendirme ve bilinçlendirme konusunda verilen bilgilerin yetersiz olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda devletin deprem eğitimine yönelik yeni ve uygulanabilir politikalar geliştirmesi gerekliliği ortaya çıkmıştır.

Purpose: To examine teachers' opinions about the adequacy of the social studies course in the context of earthquake education. In this study, answers were sought to the questions "Is it sufficient to provide earthquake education in the social studies course? If not, what can be done to increase its adequacy? Method: In this study, qualitative research method and semi-structured interview technique were used. The study group of the research consisted of social studies teachers working in secondary schools of state schools in Adıyaman province in the 2023-2024 Academic Year. Interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher on the predetermined day and time. Audio recordings were taken in the interviews about the adequacy of earthquake education given in social studies class, then the audio recordings were transcribed into text and divided into themes and categories. Total frequencies were determined by finding the number of times the categories were used. Frequencies and percentages of the categories were found. Interview texts divided into themes and categories were divided into percentage slices by creating tables using the Excel application. Findings: All participants stated that the earthquake education given in the social studies course was insufficient. Participants stated that all institutions and organizations responsible for education should work to make the necessary arrangements to eliminate this deficiency. Result: It has been revealed that the earthquake education given in the social studies course is not sufficiently included in the curriculum. Therefore, it has been concluded that the information given in earthquake drills training in earthquake training is insufficient regarding earthquake preparedness, fulfilling responsibilities as a state and society, informing and raising awareness of the society against disasters, especially earthquake disasters. In line with these results, studies can be carried out to help the state develop new and applicable policies regarding earthquake disasters. In line with these results, the necessity for the state to develop new and applicable policies for earthquake education has emerged.
