Özet

In the present study, Schiff-based Iron (II), Nickel (II) and Ruthenium (II) metal complexes that were derived from 5-Fluorouracil were synthesized and characterized by using spectroscopic methods (i.e. elemental analyses, FT-IR, UV-Vis, 1H and 13C NMR, mass spectrum, thermal analysis and magnetic moment). When the molecular structures of these complexes were examined, it was found that they had octahedral geometry. According to the results of the spectroscopic spectra, it was also found that Fe(II) and Ni(II) complexes coordinated with C[dbnd]O, NH2, NH and C[dbnd]N groups of the ligand, and Ru(II) complex bonded with C[dbnd]O, NH2, and C[dbnd]N groups of the ligand. The molecular formulas of the complexes can be defined as [FeL(H2O)2]?Cl·4H2O, [NiL(H2O)2]?Cl?2.5H2O and [Ru(p-cymene)L].Cl2·H2O. In addition, all the compounds (the ligand and complexes) were examined in terms of antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. According to the results, the ligand and metal complexes had higher activity than 5-Fluorouracil, and the antiradical activity of the drug 5-FU was very low. In addition, the antioxidant activity of Ru(II) metal complex was generally higher than other metal complexes and the ligand. It was found that 5-FU showed better antimicrobial activity than synthesized compounds. © 2021 Elsevier B.V.
