Doğrudan Yabancı Yatırımların İşsizlik Üzerine Etkisi: Türkiye Uygulaması (1980-2016)

Abstract

There are many studies examining the effect of foreign direct investmenton unemployment in the economy literature. When these studies are examined, itis seen that foreign direct investments effect unemployment both positively andnegatively. In this study, the effect of foreign direct investment (FDI) on theunemployment in Turkey have been analyzed by Johansen cointegration test andGranger causality test method using the data between 1980-2016. According tothe empirical findings of the study, there was a negative and statisticallysignificant relationship between FDI and unemployment in the long run. In otherwords, the increase in FDI in the long run decreases unemployment. According tothe results of the Granger causality test, there is no relationship between FDIand unemployment in the short term.

İktisat literatüründedoğrudan yabancı yatırımların işsizlik üzerindeki etkisini inceleyen birçokçalışma bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmalar incelendiğinde, doğrudan yabancıyatırımların işsizliği hem olumlu hem de olumsuz yönde etkilediğigörülmektedir. Bu çalışmada doğrudan yabancı yatırımların (DYY) Türkiye’deişsizlik üzerindeki etkisi, 1980-2016 dönemi verileri kullanılarak Johanseneşbütünleşme testi ve Granger nedensellik testi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir.Çalışmanın ampirik bulgularına göre, uzun dönemde DYY ile işsizlik arasındanegatif ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Bir diğerifadeyle uzun dönemde DYY’da meydana gelen artış işsizliği azaltmaktadır.Granger nedensellik testi sonuçlarına göre ise kısa dönemde DYY ile işsizlikarasında bir ilişki tespit edilememiştir.
