EVALUATION OF THE ACTIVITIES IN THE OPEN EDUCATION SECONDARY SCHOOL TURKISH COURSE BOOKS

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the activities in the Turkish text books prepared for the students of open education secondary school (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade) by “Ministry of National Education, General Directorate of Lifelong Learning” from various perspectives. For this purpose, answers were sought to find out whether the activities in the text books are based on the main text and whether visual elements were used in the activities, and if so, which visual types were preferred. In the study, the activities in the Turkish text books from MEB publications that have been taught since 2019-2020 academic year were evaluated. In this descriptive study, document review, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. As a result of the examination; it was determined that there are 96 reading texts and 663 activities in Turkish text books of the Open Education Secondary School. It was also found that a large part of these activities (73%,15) were based on the main text. An other conclusion in the scope of the study is that 194 of the totally 243 Open Education Secondary School 5th grade Turkish text book activities did not include any visual elements; 119 of the totally 133 Open Education Secondary School 6th grade Turkish text book activities did not include any visual elements; 109 of the totally 122 7th grade Turkish text book activities did not have any visual elements, and that in the 169 of the totally 175 8th grade Turkish text book activities visual types were absent. The number of activities without visuals in these text books is 591. Recommendations were made based on these findings.
Bu çalismada “Milli Egitim Bakanligi Hayat Boyu Ögrenme Genel Müdürlügü” tarafindan açik ögretim ortaokulu (5, 6, 7 ve 8. sinif) ögrencileri için hazirlanan Türkçe ders kitaplarindaki etkinliklerin çesitli açilardan degerlendirilmesi amaçlanmistir. Bu amaç kapsaminda ders kitaplarindaki etkinliklerin ana metin eksenli olup olmadigi ve etkinliklerde görsel unsurlarin kullanilip kullanilmadigi, kullanilmis ise hangi görsel türlerin kullanildigi sorularina yanit aranmistir. Çalismada verilerin toplanmasinda 2019-2020 egitim-ögretim yilindan itibaren okutulan ve MEB yayinlarina ait Türkçe ders kitaplarindaki etkinlikler incelenmistir. Betimsel nitelik tasiyan bu arastirmada nitel arastirma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi kullanilmistir. Yapilan inceleme sonucunda; açik ögretim ortaokulu Türkçe ders kitaplarinda toplam 96 okuma metni ve 663 etkinlik yer aldigi tespit edilmistir. Bu etkinliklerin çok büyük bir kisminin (%73, 15) ana metin temelli oldugu da bulgulanmistir. Çalisma ulasilan bir diger sonuç ise açik ögretim ortaokulu; 5. sinif Türkçe ders kitabi etkinliklerinde toplam 243 etkinligin 194’ünde görsel unsurlarin hiç yer almadigi; 6. sinif Türkçe ders kitabi etkinliklerinde toplam 133 etkinligin 119’unda görsel unsurlara yer verilmedigi; 7. sinif Türkçe ders kitabi etkinliklerinde toplam 112 etkinlikten 109’unda görsel unsurlarin yer almadigi ve 8. sinif Türkçe ders kitabi etkinliklerinde ise toplam 175 etkinligin 169’unda görsel türlerin hiç bulunmadigidir. Ilgili kitaplarinda görsel türlerin kullanilmadigi etkinlik sayisi ise 591’dir. Elde edilen bulgular baglaminda öneriler sunulmustur.
