Turkish Teacher Candidates' Views on Youth Literature

This study aims to determine the opinions of prospective Turkish teachers regarding youth literature. In this context, case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study in order to evaluate the views of prospective Turkish teachers towards youth literature. The research group of the study consists of 79 prospective Turkish language teacher candidates who continue their education in a state university in Turkey. The data in the study were collected with the "Interview Form" developed by the researcher. The "Interview Form" was sent to the prospective Turkish teachers via "Google Forms" and "e-mail". Content analysis was used to analyse the data. Expert views were consulted at every stage of the study.As a result of the study, it was concluded that the majority of prospective Turkish teachers had heard of the concept of youth literature. Prospective Turkish teachers defined youth literature mostly as "literature for young people in adolescence / literature addressed to young people" and "literature written by young people / literature created by young generations". They mostly thought of novels, short stories and poems when they thought of youth literature, and according to the majority of prospective Turkish teachers, youth literature has aspects that differ from children's literature. The findings of the study were compared with the results of the studies conducted in the light of the literature and various suggestions were made.
Bu çalismanin amaci, Türkçe ögretmeni adaylarinin gençlik edebiyatina yönelik görüslerinin belirlenmesidir. Bu baglamda çalismada Türkçe ögretmeni adaylarinin gençlik edebiyatina yönelik görüslerini degerlendirmek amaciyla nitel arastirma yöntemlerinden durum çalismasi kullanilmistir. Arastirmanin çalisma grubunu Mus Alparslan Üniversitesinde ögrenimlerine devam eden 79 Türkçe ögretmeni adayi olusturmaktadir. Çalismada veriler arastirmaci tarafindan gelistirilen “Görüsme Formu” ile toplanmistir. “Görüsme Formu” Türkçe ögretmeni adaylarina “Google Formlar” ve “e-posta” araciligiyla aktarilmistir. Verilerin analizinde ise içerik analizinden yararlanilmistir. Çalismanin ihtiyaç duyulan her asamasinda uzman görüslerine basvurulmustur. Çalisma sonucunda Türkçe ögretmeni adaylarinin büyük çogunlugunun gençlik edebiyati kavramini duyduklari, Türkçe ögretmeni adaylarinin gençlik edebiyatini en çok “ergenlik çagindaki gençlere yönelik edebiyat/gençlere hitap eden edebiyat” ve “gençler tarafindan yazilan edebiyat/genç nesillerin olusturdugu edebiyat” seklinde tanimladiklari, Türkçe ögretmeni adaylarinin gençlik edebiyati denildiginde akillarina en fazla roman, öykü ve siir türlerinin geldigi ve Türkçe ögretmeni adaylarinin büyük çogunluguna göre gençlik edebiyatinin çocuk edebiyatindan ayrilan yönleri bulundugu sonucuna ulasilmistir. Çalismada bulgular alan yazini isiginda yapilmis arastirmalarin sonuçlariyla karsilastirilmis ve çesitli önerilerde bulunulmustur.
