Bruns'ın Hermeneutiğinde Sokrates

Abstract

Lifeof Socrates contains an important lesson about what it means to tell the truth.In this respect Gerald L. Bruns presents an important hermeneuticinterpretation in his book HermeneuticsAncient and Modern. Bruns’ interpretation is unique with respect to boththe roots of hermenutics in Ancient Greece and its evaluation of Socrates in avery different perspective. In this article first, the place where Brunslocates Socrates is reviewed, then his hermeneutic interpretation of Socrates’autobiography presented in Apology isinvestigated. Accordingly understanding and expressing truth is a process ofaction, movement, endeavor and, as a whole, disclosure.

Sokrates’inhayatı hakikati söylemenin ne demek olduğuna ilişkin önemli bir dersbarındırır. Gerald L. Bruns HermeneuticsAncient and Modern adlı yapıtında bu konuda önemli bir hermeneutik yorumsunmaktadır. Bruns’ın yorumu hem hermeneutiğin Antik Yunan’daki kökleriaçısından hem de Sokrates’in çok farklı bir bakış açısıyla değerlendirmesiaçısından eşsiz bir yorumdur. Bu makalede öncelikle Bruns’ın Sokrates’i AntikYunan felsefinde konumlandırdığı yeri incelenmiş, sonrasında Savunma’da sunulan kısa otobiyografiyegetirdiği hermeneutik yorum incelenmiştir. Buna göre hakikati anlamak ve onuifade etmek bir eylem, bir hareket, bir girişim ve bütün olarak bir ifşasürecidir.
